Local reports have raised doubts about whether play will proceed uninterrupted, though current weather bulletins indicate any interruptions should not be prolonged.

The toss for the match was delayed due to rain, and there will be an inspection at 9:45 AM IST. The game has also been designated as a practice opportunity for the Indian team ahead of the Asian Games, with organisers noting similar playing conditions will be encountered during that tournament.

Organisers and commentators say the fixture will increase attention on the Japanese side, and that the exposure of playing against the world champions will provide valuable experience for Japan’s players.
