India will meet Malaysia in the men’s hockey final at the Asian Games 2026 at the Gifu Prefectural Green Stadium in Kakamigahara, Japan on Saturday, October 3. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM local time (3:30 PM IST) and will be shown in India on the Sony Sports Network and streamed on SonyLIV.

India enter the gold-medal match as defending champions and are attempting to win consecutive Asian Games men’s hockey titles for the first time. They topped Pool A with wins over Indonesia (13-1), Sri Lanka (16-1), South Korea (8-2), Japan (2-0) and Bangladesh (10-0). India reached the final after a 4-3 semi-final victory against Pakistan.

Malaysia remain unbeaten at the tournament and finished first in Pool B with victories against Uzbekistan (7-0), Oman (7-0), Thailand (10-0) and Pakistan (5-4). They advanced to their first-ever final by defeating South Korea 2-1 in the semi-final. Malaysia are bidding to claim a maiden men’s hockey title at the Asian Games.

A direct berth at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics is on the line for the winner of the final. India have previously won the Asian Games men’s hockey gold four times, in 1966, 1998, 2014 and 2022. Malaysia’s appearance in this match is their first in an Asian Games men’s hockey final.
