India topped Pool B with a 100% record and remain unbeaten at the Aichi-Nagoya Games, having won all five of their Pool B matches; the world No. 8 side are aiming to end a 44-year wait for Asian Games women’s hockey gold.
India opened their campaign with a 19-0 victory against Uzbekistan, followed by a 17-1 win over Indonesia and a 20-1 result versus Thailand; they then recorded a 3-1 win against hosts Japan and finished the pool stage with a 7-0 win against Singapore to secure the top spot in Pool B with 15 points.
The Women in Blue scored 66 goals across the pool stage; Deepika has 21 goals in five matches to lead the tournament scoring charts and Navneet has 10, and the pair are set to spearhead India’s attack against South Korea.
South Korea finished second in Pool A with 12 points after losing only to China, and a 2-1 win against Malaysia secured their place in the semi-final; midfielder Park Seung-ae has scored eight goals in the tournament. The most recent meeting between the sides was an international friendly on February 26, 2025, which South Korea won 3-0 via goals from Choi Yoo-Jung, Dak-Yeong Choi, and Mun Eun-Ju.
