The India vs Sri Lanka one-day international opener scheduled for December 13, 2026, has been relocated from Delhi to Visakhapatnam, the BCCI said on Thursday, November 5, 2026. The change was announced ahead of Sri Lanka’s short tour that begins on December 13.

The relocation followed concerns about potential weather disruption and planned work at the Delhi venue. The report noted that air pollution in the national capital is usually on the higher side, and that the outfield was being relaid at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, prompting the Delhi and District Cricket Association to request the BCCI to move the game elsewhere.

"The venue change has been made following a request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), in view of the potential weather disruption and the proposed renovation work at the stadium. "The match will now be played at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 13, 2026," said the BCCI in a release.

Sri Lanka will tour India for three ODIs and as many T20Is, with the opening match of the tour now set for December 13 in Visakhapatnam. The series schedule begins on that date as part of the bilateral itinerary between the two teams.

The Hindu published the report on November 05, 2026 at 07:34 pm IST from New Delhi and included a photograph of the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium credited to Shiv Kumar Pushpakar.

The confirmed next fixture is the ODI opener at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 13, 2026, which will commence Sri Lanka’s three-match ODI leg and the accompanying three T20Is.
