India win seven more medals on Day 2 of U-23 Commonwealth Fencing in Lagos

Indian fencers added seven medals on the second day of the U-23 Commonwealth Fencing Championship in Lagos, Nigeria on Monday night, the organisers' results showed. The haul came across senior individual events: women's sabre, women's epee and men's foil.

India had already collected 17 medals, including four gold, on the opening day of the competition, dominating both the men's and women's individual events. On the second day the team secured one gold, two silver and four bronze medals across senior individual categories, continuing their run at the tournament in Lagos.

India staged a strong display in the senior women's epee, with Tanishka Khatri taking the gold and Khushi Dabhade finishing with silver. Prachi Lohan shared the bronze with Australia's Harrison Asley. The results produced a full set of medals for India in that event.

In the senior women's sabre event India occupied three podium positions. Aakhari won silver behind England's Brierley, who took the gold. Jefarlin and Shruti Joshi each claimed a bronze for India.

The senior men's foil saw Tejas Patil secure a bronze medal. He shared the bronze position with England's David William, while Alex Tophalidas of Cyprus won gold and Oliver Starange of England took silver. Patil's podium finish contributed one of the four bronze medals India added on Day 2.
