Indian men's teqball duo eliminated in group stage at Asian Games 2026

Declan Marshall Gonsalves and Mohamed Anas Imran Beg were knocked out in the group stage of the men's teqball doubles at the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, on September 17 after losing both of their group matches.

India began their campaign at the Asian Games on September 17, two days before the official opening of the 20th edition. The men's doubles event was teqball's debut at the Asian Games. Gonsalves and Beg became the first-ever Indians to compete in teqball at a continental competition. They entered Aichi‑Nagoya after winning a bronze at the 2024 World Championships in Vietnam, which had been India's first-ever teqball medal; the Asian Games are scheduled to be held in Aichi‑Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.

India were drawn in Group B and opened against Vietnam’s Truong Giang Ba and Anh Khoa Le, losing 2-0 (12-10, 12-8) at Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center. In their second group fixture they faced South Korea’s Junsuk Lee and Taebeen Lee and were beaten 2-0 (12-4, 12-7). Both matches took place at the Nagoya City Higashi Sports Center.

Those two defeats left India third in Group B and eliminated them from quarter-final contention. The men's doubles exit removed India's first medal opportunity in teqball at the Games. India therefore finished Day 1 of competition without any medals.

Women’s singles and mixed doubles in teqball are yet to take place at the Asian Games, representing the remaining teqball events on the schedule.
