Insomniac’s new Marvel’s Wolverine trailer shows combat, suits, photo mode and New Game Plus

Insomniac Games released a new trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine on August 29, 2026, revealing Logan’s combat, costumes, progression systems and post-game content ahead of the title’s September 15, 2026 launch. The footage, credited to Insomniac Games and Sony PlayStation, was accompanied by an article outlining gameplay features and modes.
The trailer is narrated by Liam McIntyre, who voices Logan in the game, and the studio confirmed the title will launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 on September 15, 2026. The article accompanying the trailer was written by Mahaksh Chauhan, who is identified as a gaming journalist with an interest in old-school RPGs and turn-based games. Courtesy credit in the release reads: Insomniac Games, Sony PlayStation.
Combat sequences shown in the trailer emphasise close-quarters brutality: Wolverine uses his adamantium claws to tear through foes, can counter and parry incoming attacks, and can knock enemies into environmental hazards. The footage also demonstrates the ability to deflect bullets with his claws and shows a variety of Special Techniques and other combat abilities available to players.
Progression is handled in part through an Adaptations system that unlocks enhancements for Logan’s abilities. The trailer specifically highlights a passive recharge rate for Special Techniques at Rage Tier 2, with a further increase at Rage Tier 3, as part of that progression framework.
Insomniac confirmed a broad selection of costumes inspired by comic book, film and television interpretations of Wolverine; several outfits are shown in the trailer. Players will be able to further customise appearance, and some outfits can be obtained alongside permanent health upgrades.
Post-game options shown include New Game Plus, which the trailer confirms becomes available after completing the game. New Game Plus features an increased level cap, exclusive Techniques, and additional progression options. The release also mentions Nightmare Challenges as optional extra-difficulty encounters designed to test combat skills.
Photo Mode will be available from launch, but access requires downloading the day-one update, according to the trailer and accompanying article. Players who wish to use the Photo Mode at release will need to apply the day-one patch.
Wolverine launches on September 15 exclusively for PlayStation 5.
