Inter complete €35m transfer for Curtis Jones from Liverpool

Inter Milan completed the signing of Curtis Jones from Liverpool on 21 August 2026, agreeing a deal worth 35m euros (£30m). The 25-year-old midfielder has signed a contract with Inter running until 2031.
Liverpool accepted an offer composed of 30m euros (£25.7m) plus 5m euros (£4.3m) in add-ons for Jones. The club negotiated a 10% sell-on clause as part of the agreement. At the time of negotiations Jones had one year remaining on his contract and Liverpool had valued their academy graduate at about £35m.
Inter first showed interest in January and proposed a loan with a view to a permanent transfer, which Liverpool declined. In June Liverpool rejected a verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) from the Serie A champions. More recently Liverpool indicated that a package similar to the £30m fee paid for Djed Spence would likely secure a deal.
Jones made 228 appearances for Liverpool after being handed his first-team debut by Jurgen Klopp in 2019. He joined Liverpool’s academy at the age of nine. His development at the club led to regular involvement across multiple seasons.
Last season Jones featured 49 times in all competitions but made only 18 Premier League starts. He struggled to secure a regular starting spot in midfield under Arne Slot. Those availability and selection issues formed part of Liverpool’s decision to sanction the move.
Jones is the third English player to join Inter this summer. The other two are John Stones and Djed Spence.
