IPL 2027 mini auction to be held in Goa, Arun Dhumal says

Arun Dhumal told PTI on Wednesday that the IPL 2027 mini auction will be held in Goa in December. The precise timetable remains subject to official confirmation.

Franchises have begun preparations for the 2027 season and will soon start working on their squads ahead of the mini auction. The upcoming event is the final mini auction of the current IPL cycle before next year’s mega auction and offers teams one last window to make smaller adjustments. Franchises will use the process to assess which players they wish to retain and which areas require strengthening. Choices made at this auction could influence how teams plan their squads for the coming seasons.

“We have finalised Goa. The likely dates are December 15 to 16,” Dhumal told PTI. The Board of Control for Cricket in India confirmed the move to host the auction on Indian soil after a run of overseas editions. Organisers have not yet published the full schedule for the event.

The decision brings the auction back to India following three consecutive editions staged abroad. The previous auctions were hosted in Dubai, Jeddah and Abu Dhabi. Dhumal had earlier discussed plans to bring the auction back to India as the BCCI and organisers prepared for the next season.

Teams will have the mini auction as an opportunity to make targeted changes to their rosters ahead of IPL 2027, examining existing players before deciding where reinforcements are needed. The event is expected in mid-December 2026, with the likely December 15-16 dates pending formal confirmation.

As the final mini auction before the mega auction after IPL 2027, this event gives franchises one more chance to tweak squads ahead of a larger reshuffle in the following cycle.
