Ipswich Town v Nottingham Forest: Portman Road clash, lineups and injury updates

Ipswich Town will host Nottingham Forest at Portman Road on October 23 in their Matchweek 8 fixture of the English Premier League 2026-27 season, the clubs confirmed. Ipswich arrive off a 2-3 home defeat to Manchester City in their previous league outing.

Ipswich have recorded three wins in their opening seven top-flight matches and sit 10th on the table, while Gary O’Neil’s side will take the advantage of home conditions into the encounter. The hosts showed attacking promise against Manchester City but have been criticised for their defensive shortcomings. Nottingham Forest, led by Oliver Glasner, arrive on a three-match losing run in the Premier League 2026-27 after beating Aston Villa and then losing to Coventry City, Crystal Palace and Arsenal.

Daizen Maeda is expected to be a focal point for Ipswich; the 28-year-old scored one of Ipswich’s goals in the 2-3 defeat to Manchester City and is described as capable of controlling midfield and contributing goals. The preview lists Maeda among the side’s attacking options and projects him as influential in the tie.

For Nottingham Forest the article notes a 29-year-old will play an important role both in midfield and defence and that he was among the top performers in Forest’s 0-1 loss to Arsenal. Xaver Schlager recorded the most defensive contributions for Forest in that match, with 14, according to the report.

Injury and selection updates state Ipswich Town might miss Jack Taylor because of a knee issue. Nottingham Forest will be without Igor Jesus and Nicolo Savona due to injury, and Morgan Gibbs-White is not yet confirmed for the squad.

The preview supplies the following expected lineups: Walton (GK); O’Shea, Diop, Greaves; Ouattara, Florentino, Palacios, Davis; Maeda, Enciso; Flemming. For Nottingham Forest the projected XI is Sels (GK); Murillo, Diomande, Cunha; Munoz, McAtee, Schlager, Williams; Ndoye, Dominguez; Delap.
