Chennaiyin FC and Kerala Blasters FC played to a 0-0 draw at the Marina Arena in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2026-27 on Saturday, with Kerala’s Adrian Luna missing a second-half penalty.

Chennaiyin made their first home appearance of the season in a physical, high-press contest that featured rapid transitions and attempts to exploit the final third. Madih Talal opened the match’s major chances in the 31st minute with a curling right-footed effort that Amrinder Singh pushed away, and four minutes later Ramon Tanque set up Irfan Yadwad for a powerful strike that Amrinder again saved, leaving the half scoreless.

Kerala began the second half on the front foot and made an early change, bringing on Sumit Singh for Hormipam Ruivah in the 46th minute. A subsequent sequence saw Luna spray a cross for Mohammad Sanan, who was brought down by Yadwad; during the play the ball struck the Chennaiyin winger’s arm and the referee awarded a penalty. Luna stepped up, paused briefly before his run-up, sent the goalkeeper the wrong way but saw his spot-kick crash against the woodwork.

Chances continued to arrive for both sides: in the 54th minute Andre Green drove forward on a counter and fired a left-footed shot that goalkeeper Mohammad Nawaz saved. The match featured repeated scuffles as tensions rose, and Chennaiyin made two substitutions around the hour mark, introducing Lalhriatpuia Chawngthu for Ayush Chhetri and S Prakadeswaran for Brison Fernandes.

Irfan Yadwad produced a near-goal in the 69th minute when his right-footed effort struck the top-right corner of the crossbar. Kerala reorganised their attack with Vibin Mohanan replacing Korou Singh and MS Sreekuttan coming on for Sanan in the 77th minute, and Luna was withdrawn for Momo Yansane five minutes later.

In the 87th minute Ramon Tanque and Bhutia were replaced by Bryce Miranda and Dippendu Biswas. Chennaiyin launched a counter in the 89th minute after intercepting a set piece; Miranda fed Yadwad, whose chipped attempt was denied by Amrinder in a one-on-one stop to keep the scores level.

A physical confrontation in the second minute of stoppage time resulted in Andre Green and Imanishimwe being shown red cards, and the match finished 0-0.
