ISL 2026-27 Matchweek 2 Team of the Week: Antonio Moyano and Mihailo Perović lead selections

Antonio Moyano and Mihailo Perović headlined Khel Now’s Indian Super League Matchweek 2 Team of the Week following fixtures played between 16 October and 19 October 2026 across the ISL season’s second matchweek.
The week opened in the capital with Mohun Bagan Super Giant overturning an early goal from Sporting Club Delhi’s Hnamte to claim victory, while Inter Kashi earned their first point of the season against Odisha FC in Pune. Bengaluru FC defeated Chennaiyin FC 2-0 in the Southern Derby, East Bengal beat Churchill Brothers 4-0, and NorthEast United recorded a 4-1 win over Kerala Blasters. The final game saw Mumbai City FC drop two points when Gurkirat Singh headed a 90th-minute equaliser for Punjab FC, his first ISL goal in almost three years; the matchweek also produced moments such as Thoi Singh’s volley, Dani Ramírez’s free-kick and Bipin Singh’s curling finish.
Goalkeeper Nora Fernandes was named despite SC Delhi’s 1-2 loss to Mohun Bagan and having conceded five goals across two games; Khel Now noted two standout performances and several key saves in the Mohun Bagan match, including a low stop to deny Lee Erwin’s left-footed shot, a save from Erwin’s curling effort in the second half, and interventions to deny attempts from Zeljkovic and Manvir.
Defensive contributions were recognised with Mumbai City captain Akash Mishra praised for an all-round night in a game that ended in a late conceded goal: he won all nine of his ground duels, made five recoveries and five clearances, was not dribbled past, won seven of eight tackles and created multiple chances. East Bengal’s Anwar was singled out for winning all his aerial duels and tackles, making three interceptions, two blocks and eight recoveries while also testing the goalkeeper with a long-range effort.
Mohun Bagan’s Mehtab was credited for a steady outing at right centre-back/right-back against SC Delhi, where he was not dribbled past, won the majority of his duels and all his tackles, and produced seven recoveries, three clearances and three key chances (two from crosses). Bengaluru’s Ricky returned from suspension to start at right-back, winning most ground duels, completing four of five tackles and delivering timely recoveries and interceptions to help his side preserve a clean sheet.
Midfielder Apuia featured for his defensive work in Mohun Bagan’s win, recording 10 recoveries, winning five of seven duels and completing 51 of 54 passes for a 94% passing accuracy; he also played the through pass that set up Miguel Figueira’s winner. Antonio Moyano opened his ISL account in matchweek 2 for NorthEast United, scoring with a low finish from Ajaraie’s assist, adding a fortunate assist via a deflected Korou clearance that led to Ajaraie’s second goal, and contributing five recoveries, one won tackle, three ground duels won and three completed long balls.
Alaeddine Ajaraie was involved in three goals in NorthEast United’s 4-1 victory—scoring twice and providing one assist—all in that match; Dani Ramírez, in his first appearance for East Bengal, scored from a first-minute free-kick with a left-footed curling finish, recovered the ball three times in the opposition half, hit the post once and recorded 86% passing accuracy with 75% of his passes directed into the opposition half. Bipin Singh earned a place after coming off the bench at half-time for Churchill Brothers, creating two chances shortly after entering and scoring twice late: a curling effort in the 85th minute and a second finish from Vishnu’s cross five minutes later.
Mihailo Perović played a decisive attacking role in Bengaluru FC’s 2-0 win over Chennaiyin, supplying the cross that led to Borja Martinez’s saved effort and Ryan Williams’ rebound finish, creating three chances in total, and converting the second goal himself by capitalising on a mistake involving Nawaz and Emmanuel Imanishimwe to tap the ball home.
NorthEast United top the ISL table after matchweek 2 with six points from two games; FC Goa were the only club not to appear in matchweek 2 due to their commitments in the 2026-27 AFC Challenge League.
