Jack Grealish omitted from Everton squad and did not travel to Newcastle for Premier League match tonight

Jack Grealish did not travel with Everton to Newcastle for their Premier League 2026-27 match tonight, missing a third consecutive game for David Moyes’ side.
The 31-year-old was left out of Everton’s matchday squad after being dropped from the team for their Carabao Cup victory over Matthias Jaissle’s squad last Thursday for disciplinary concerns. Prior to that EFL Cup fourth-round match, Grealish reportedly skipped training without authorisation, and he had missed the previous Premier League game against Arsenal due to sickness. Grealish rejoined Everton this summer on a second lucrative loan contract from Manchester City and was not named in the starting lineup or among the substitutes as the squad flew to the northeast.
Everton have sent Grealish to their Finch Farm training base in Merseyside to improve his fitness, the club confirmed, while the timing of any return to Moyes’ matchday plans remains unclear. Reports about the winger’s behaviour during a recent holiday surfaced as his absence from training became public, with one account saying he spent two nights drinking and partying in Wilmslow and London. Those social outings reportedly followed the Pride of Britain Awards, and he was said to have been spotted with a number of teammates and former coworkers at a pub and a karaoke club. The club has not formally linked those reports to his omission from the squad.
Grealish has made seven appearances since his summer return to Everton, and the club acknowledged that the current sequence of events has stalled his progress. Everton’s manager and staff have highlighted the loss of Grealish’s creative influence as a reduction to the Toffees’ attacking options during a testing spell that includes tonight’s fixture against Newcastle United.
David Moyes has not yet confirmed when Grealish will be given another chance in the first-team squad, and Everton sit 14th in the Premier League 2026-27 standings.
