Jack Grealish ruled out of Everton’s Premier League tie with Coventry after 'breach of club discipline'

Everton manager David Moyes confirmed on Thursday that Jack Grealish remains unavailable for the club's Premier League match against Coventry on Friday following what the club described as a "breach of club discipline." Grealish last played for Everton on 17 October in a home defeat by Chelsea.
The England international missed Everton's two fixtures against Newcastle — one in the Premier League and one in the Carabao Cup — after the disciplinary issue emerged. The situation is understood to have involved an unauthorised absence from training, and the club said he remained absent on Monday because of a lack of fitness, a point Moyes said at the time he could not comment on.
On Thursday Moyes reiterated the player's unavailability, saying: "No, Jack is not available." He added: "I wouldn't give you the plan but we will be working with Jack again soon." Moyes has also previously said after Monday's win at St James' Park that Grealish still has a future at the club but did not know when he would return to the team.
Grealish is on loan from Manchester City and is 31 years old. He is attempting to rebuild his career at Everton after falling out of favour at City despite costing the club £100m in 2021, and the club notes he played a key role in helping City win the 2022-23 Treble. He will be out of contract at the end of the season.
During his loan last season Grealish scored twice in 22 games for Everton before that spell was cut short by injury. He returned to Everton for a second loan this season but had only made six appearances before falling out of favour.
Grealish will therefore miss Friday's Premier League meeting with Coventry, and when asked if the upcoming international break could provide an opportunity to resolve the matter Moyes said: "We just need to wait and see how things go."
