Free agent Jadon Sancho has indicated he favours a move abroad six weeks after his Manchester United contract expired, the 26-year-old winger having made 23 appearances for England, scoring three goals. He is assessing his options amid reported offers from Premier League clubs and interest from Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho cost Manchester United £73m when he moved from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and has played for Dortmund in two spells, making 158 appearances for the German side. His departure from United left him a free agent and available to consider offers from elsewhere. The transfer fee and his Dortmund history remain part of his recent club record.

Last season Sancho was on loan at Aston Villa, where he made 39 appearances as Unai Emery's side secured Champions League qualification and enjoyed Europa League success. He featured as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg, which was his third European final in three seasons. Those appearances formed the bulk of his playing time during the campaign.

In 2024-25 Sancho spent the season on loan at Chelsea and made 41 appearances. That arrangement included an obligation to buy, but the west London club paid a £5m penalty to send him back to Manchester United. The Chelsea loan remains part of the contractual history affecting his current free-agent status.

Sancho is said to favour a move away from England but has not ruled out other options as he evaluates offers. Borussia Dortmund are believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing him. His situation continues to attract attention from both Premier League sides and clubs abroad.

Sancho has been training at non-league Flixton to maintain fitness before the new season. Flixton dismissed suggestions he was on trial, saying 'Jadon was not on trial with the club'.
