Jannik Sinner announced he will end his 2026 season and not return to competitive tennis for the rest of the year, saying "I need treatment"; his last appearance was at Wimbledon, where he beat Alexander Zverev to win the title.
He is undergoing treatment for a persistent knee injury he has been experiencing since July, and earlier in the season he won five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles and reached the Australian Open semi-finals.
