Jaskaran Singh and Chandermohan advance to bronze bouts at U23 World Championships in Las Vegas

Jaskaran Singh and Chandermohan reached the bronze-medal matches at the U23 World Wrestling Championships in Las Vegas on October 19, 2026, while Rohit and Shivam held on to medal opportunities via the repechage. Sumit Bharaskar was eliminated from medal contention in the 70kg category at the same meet.
At the U23 Worlds in Las Vegas, Jaskaran competed in the 65kg freestyle bracket and Chandermohan in the 79kg division, each falling in their semifinals and moving into bronze bouts; Rohit (57kg) and Shivam (97kg) survived into the repechage rounds. The competition saw competitors from multiple countries advance and eliminate Indian wrestlers across weight classes, culminating in the two Indians set to contest bronze.
In the 65kg freestyle, Jaskaran registered two wins by technical superiority before defeating American Bowen William Bassett 6-3 in the quarterfinals. He was stopped in the semifinal when Japan’s Kaiji Ogino beat him by technical superiority, which sent Jaskaran into a bronze-medal contest.
Chandermohan’s run in the 79kg category included a 14-4 victory over Georgia’s Giorgi Gogritchiani, a 14-0 win against Brazil’s Kydyn Luk Correa Lima and an 11-0 technical superiority win over American Joseph Lee Sealey. He missed a place in the final after a 3-4 semifinal loss to Iran’s Mahdi Mohammad Yousefihajivar and will now contest bronze.
Rohit opened his 57kg campaign with a technical superiority win over Jamaica’s Irie Alexander Jackson but was beaten 6-10 by Turkiye’s Bekir Keser in the pre-quarterfinals. After moving through the repechage, Rohit remains in the medal race.
Shivam also stayed alive in the tournament via the repechage in the 97kg category. Meanwhile, Sumit Bharaskar’s campaign ended in the 70kg category, with the Indian failing to remain in contention for a medal.
Jaskaran Singh and Chandermohan will each contest bronze-medal bouts at the U23 World Wrestling Championships, and Rohit is scheduled to meet Moldova’s Ion Bulgaru in the repechage as the next confirmed fixtures.
