Jemimah Rodrigues ruled out of ACC Women’s Asia Cup and Asian Games after hamstring tear; Pratika Rawal called up

Jemimah Rodrigues has been ruled out of the ACC Women’s Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan after sustaining a high-grade right hamstring tear on 3rd August while playing for Southern Brave in The Women’s Hundred 2026, the BCCI announced, and Pratika Rawal has been named as her replacement.
The Women’s Asia Cup begins on August 28, with India due to open their campaign against Thailand on August 30; India’s other group matches are scheduled against Hong Kong and Pakistan, all to be played in Dubai. India will next participate at the Asian Games in late September. Rodrigues had been a regular member of the side that won the Women’s Cricket World Cup last year in India and was expected to feature in both upcoming Asian tournaments.
The BCCI confirmed Rodrigues’ injury after clinical assessment at its Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. "Jemimah Rodrigues sustained a right hamstring injury on 3rd August while playing in The Hundred in England. The BCCI Medical Team clinically assessed her at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, and the assessment confirmed a high-grade tear. Consequently, she has been ruled out of the upcoming ACC Women’s Asia Cup in the UAE and the Asian Games in Japan," a BCCI press release said.
In response to Rodrigues’ absence, the BCCI has added Pratika Rawal to India’s squads for the Asia Cup and the Asian Games. Rawal has not yet appeared in a T20I for India but has one Test and 27 ODI appearances to her name.
India will now begin their Asia Cup campaign against Thailand in Dubai on August 30, with Rodrigues unavailable for selection for both the ACC Women’s Asia Cup and the Asian Games as confirmed by the BCCI’s medical assessment.
