Joe Fraser takes all-around bronze at World Championships in Rotterdam

Joe Fraser won the men's all-around bronze at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam on 22 October 2026, finishing with a total score of 83.531 after the six disciplines and becoming only the third British man to earn a world all-around medal.
Fraser, 27, rebounded from Great Britain's fourth-place finish in the men's team event on Wednesday, which meant the team failed to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles; Britain will have another opportunity to qualify at next year's World Championships. Fraser celebrated his bronze with a thumb-sucking gesture directed at his pregnant girlfriend watching from home and said: "I've got a pregnant girlfriend at home with four weeks to go, we've had a team final to qualify for the Olympic Games and sadly didn't make it and I've gone out there today and managed to pick up a bronze medal," Fraser told BBC Sport.
Japan's Daiki Hashimoto claimed the all-around gold with a score of 85.988, securing his fourth successive world all-around title, while China's Haonan Yang took silver on 84.199.
Jake Jarman finished sixth with 82.865, narrowly missing the podium and contributing to what the report described as the best combined result by a pair of British men in the all-around at a World Championships.
Fraser added: "It's been a real whirlwind but I have loved every second and I'm grateful to be out there in amongst the best in the world. We had a lot of fun out there. It's just the icing on the cake to bring this home," reflecting on his competition experience.
Jarman, who will contest the floor final on Saturday, commented on the wider team's prospects: "The potential that we've got looking to LA, it's promising, it's exciting," he told BBC Sport. "I think we have got a lot to give and I can't wait to see where we are in two years' time."
