A Chicago Bulls jersey worn and autographed by Michael Jordan during game two of the 1998 NBA Finals has been sold for $14m (£10.6m) in a private transaction, a sale reported on 12 October 2026. The purchaser was Miami real estate investor Ron Firman, who acquired the item through Hunt Auctions.

Jordan wore the jersey in what the source describes as his 'Last Dance' season; he scored a game-high 37 points in that game and finished the campaign with a 4-2 series victory that secured his sixth and final NBA Championship. He was named Finals Most Valuable Player in all six of his championship seasons, and later came out of retirement after three years to play two seasons with the Washington Wizards from 2001-2003.

The $14m (£10.6m) price is a record for a piece of basketball memorabilia. The previous high for a basketball item was a card featuring Jordan and Kobe Bryant from 2007-08, which sold for $12.9m (£9.8m) last year.

Only one piece of sports memorabilia has sold for more than this Jordan jersey: the baseball jersey worn by Babe Ruth when he "called the shot" during the 1932 World Series, which fetched $24.1m (£18.2m) in 2024.

A separate recent sale had already pushed prices for Jordan-worn items higher: two weeks earlier, a non-autographed jersey from game three of the 1998 Finals sold at auction for $12.3m (£9.3m), the previous record for a game-worn Jordan item.

David Hunt, president of Hunt Auctions, commented on the market in a statement: "While Michael Jordan's importance within the sports memorabilia marketplace has long been established, it has now escalated to an elite asset class more typically reserved for iconic works of art."
