Josh Allen gets first career overtime win as Bills beat Rams 37–34

Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills defeated the Los Angeles Rams 37–34 in overtime on Monday night, handing Allen the first overtime victory of his NFL career after seven prior losses. The result closed a wild game that featured multiple lead changes and critical special-teams plays in extra time.
Allen accounted for 331 total yards and two touchdowns, passing for 210 yards and rushing for 121, and had previously been 0-7 in overtime. The matchup paired the NFL’s last two MVPs at quarterback, with Matthew Stafford also producing a high-volume performance.
Late in regulation Kyren Williams scored on a one-yard surge with four seconds remaining for Los Angeles. Buffalo began the overtime period by driving deep into Rams territory before Aaron Donald recovered a James Cook fumble, the second time Cook had fumbled on the night.
Stafford drove the Rams to the Buffalo 30, but Harrison Mevis missed his second field-goal attempt of the night when Greg Rousseau got a piece of the kick. Rousseau’s pressure on the Rams’ kicking game continued to influence the overtime sequence.
Allen produced scrambles of 19 and 13 yards in overtime that moved Buffalo into position for Tyler Bass’s 45-yard field goal, which he converted with 1:55 left; Bass ran away to celebrate before officials signaled the kick good. The kick ultimately decided the game.
Puka Nacua finished with a career-high 17 receptions for 138 yards and a touchdown for the Rams. Matthew Stafford passed for 383 yards and three touchdowns in the Los Angeles offense.
After the game Allen reflected on the team effort, saying: “Guys kept chipping away, defense kept going out there making plays, special teams was big tonight. Don’t think we threw it very well, especially in the first half but our team kept fighting. We found a way to win, it’s the first OT [win] I’ve got, so it feels good being on this side.” He also praised Los Angeles’s defense and Stafford, adding: “They got a really good defense and there was some opportunity there in the quarterback scramble game, just trying to extend some plays. Got a lot of things to clean up but I’ll take being 1-0 on this two-game west coast trip.” On Stafford specifically he said: “If he’s not the greatest thrower of a football of all time, I don’t know who is.”
The victory moved Buffalo to 4-1, while Los Angeles dropped to 2-3 and are under .500 after five games for the fourth time in five seasons.
