Kadeena Cox breaks world record to claim C4 1km gold in Netherlands

Kadeena Cox set a new world record to win the C4 1km gold at the Para Cycling Track World Championships in the Netherlands on 30 October 2026. She crossed the line in 1 minute 9.545 seconds.
The 35-year-old secured her seventh world title and is a five-time Paralympic gold medallist. It was her first world title since 2024.
Following the finish she was draped in a British flag by her team and celebrated joyously. She then faced a nervous wait as Tara Neyland took to the track in pursuit of a medal. The Australian could not eclipse Cox's time.
In the men's tandem B 1km time-trial, Britain's James Ball defended his title alongside new partner Aaron Pope. The pair crossed the line in 59.563 seconds. Ball secured his eighth world title, with Pope winning his first.
Britain's Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl took silver in the women's pursuit final behind New Zealand's Emma Foy and Jessie Hodges. Unwin and Holl had earlier set a world record of 4:30.262 in qualifying. Foy and Hodges then recorded 4:29.672 to take gold and break that mark.
In the men's C4 final, Britain's Archie Atkinson won bronze. Fin Graham also took bronze in the C3 1km time-trial. Those results added to the British podium returns at the championships.
The programme at the championships included multiple world records and title defences, notably Cox's world-record C4 1km and the twice-reset women's pursuit record.
