Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh take mixed 10m air pistol gold for India at Asian Games 2026
Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh won the 10m air pistol mixed team gold on Friday at the Aichi Prefectural Shooting Gallery in Nagoya, Japan, during the Asian Games 2026. Their final combined score was 484.6, a new Asian Record.
In qualification the Indian duo posted a combined 587, including 29 inner 10s. That 587 broke the Asian Games qualification record of 577 set by Sarabjot Singh and Divya Subbaraju at Hangzhou 2022 and equalled the Asian Record set by Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker at the ISSF World Cup in Osijek, Croatia, in 2021.
The pair led the final from the outset, opening with 103.0 and advancing to 202.4 and 303.5 by the end of Stage 1. In Stage 2 they added 364.7 in the first series and 424.9 in the second series.
Indonesia were the first team eliminated from the four-team final, and by that point India held a lead of nearly 6 points. South Korea’s Suhyeon Hong and Gaeun Choo took silver with 478.0, while Iran’s Vahid Golkhandan and Haniyeh Rostamiyan claimed bronze with 415.8.
Kamaljeet had been added to the mixed team at the eleventh hour, replacing Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve, who had originally been paired with Suruchi by the National Rifle Association of India. The change followed the individual 10m pistol event a day earlier, where Kamaljeet missed the final by finishing ninth and Kedarling placed 35th.
The previous Asian Record for the final was 481.3, held by Uzbekistan’s Mukhammad Kamalov and Nigina Saidkulova earlier this year.
The victory provided India with their second gold medal at the Asian Games 2026; the country’s first gold at this edition came earlier when the women’s cricket team beat Sri Lanka in the final to claim the nation’s maiden gold of the Games.
