Harry Kane said on Wednesday, after receiving the Bundesliga Golden Shoe, that "That itch isn't there as much anymore" to return to the Premier League from Bayern Munich. "Never say never, but for now I am concentrating on Bayern Munich and we will see what the future holds," the England captain added.

Kane left Tottenham to join Bayern Munich in 2023 after scoring 213 goals in the English top flight, 47 goals short of Alan Shearer's 260. He moved for £86.4m and signed a four-year contract; he has entered the final 12 months of that deal. Kane has scored 98 league goals in three seasons at Bayern Munich.

Kane has produced prolific scoring figures since the move, and last season hit a total of 73 goals. For Bayern specifically he scored 61 goals in 51 appearances as Vincent Kompany's side completed a league and cup double.

Kompany took charge of Bayern in 2024 and Kane has credited the former Manchester City defender with improving his game. "I think this is the best version of myself for sure," he added. "I think last season speaks for itself, from that sense the best season in my career no doubt."

Kane described the manager's impact in greater detail, saying: "Since the boss has come in he has elevated my game to another level. That is down to the style of play, the way we attack and the way we defend, the way he gives players freedom to sometimes receive the ball deeper and sometimes arrive late in the box."

Reflecting on his positional freedom, Kane said: "I also had a lot of this and these kind of different positions during my Tottenham career as well, especially from the Mourinho stage onwards, it was the same sort of thing - I had freedom to come deep and get the ball and I had a great relationship with Son Heung-min." He added: "It has been building but I think this season with the team I have around me, the players we have and the system we play with the coach, it has just elevated me to another level."

Kane says he is proud of being in Ballon d’Or contention. Having entered the final year of the contract he signed after his £86.4m move from Spurs, he is set to begin discussions over a new Bayern contract.
