Kerala Blasters confirm 100% sale; UAE-linked group reported behind takeover
Kerala Blasters FC said on September 29, 2026 that Magnum Sports Private Limited has entered into a definitive agreement for the 100 per cent sale of the Indian Super League club. The club did not name the incoming owners in its announcement, though multiple reports have connected the proposed takeover to a UAE-based consortium.
Kerala Blasters insisted club operations and commitments to partners and supporters will continue without disruption during the ownership change. The club posted the announcement on its Twitter account (@KeralaBlasters) on September 29, 2026. The statement said the incoming ownership group will take over day-to-day operations and that the club’s identity will be announced "in due course".
Multiple reports identified Sheikh Ahmed bin Faisal Al Qassimi, described in those reports as a member of the Sharjah ruling family and a businessman, as a leading figure behind the prospective takeover. Reports also linked the investment to Al Fursan Sports Investment, although Kerala Blasters has not formally confirmed the company name or Al Qassimi's ownership. Manorama reported that a consortium led by Al Qassimi was set to acquire the club.
The outgoing shareholders reflected on the club’s growth and on the difficulty of the decision to sell. "The decision to sell the club was not an easy one," the shareholders said, adding that the choice came "after considerable thought and with a deep understanding of what Kerala Blasters means to the people who have made it what it is." They added: "We leave knowing that we have built a stronger club, with solid foundations that will allow Kerala Blasters to embrace the changes ahead in Indian football and continue to grow."
Kerala Blasters' announcement follows several recent changes of ownership within the Indian Super League. Hyderabad FC’s sporting licence was acquired by Jindal Football Private Limited, part of the Delhi-based BC Jindal Group, in 2024, after which the club relocated to New Delhi and was rebranded as Sporting Club Delhi. In August 2026, Tata Steel transferred its entire 100 per cent stake in Jamshedpur Football and Sporting Private Limited to Goa-based Churchill Brothers Sports Club Private Limited for a nominal consideration of Rs 100; that transaction included the ISL sporting licence and the contracts of 12 players and two coaches.
"The transaction and transfer of ownership will be completed in phases through the 2026/27 season," Kerala Blasters said in their official statement, confirming the timetable for the handover and reiterating that the incoming ownership group's identity will be announced "in due course."
