Kerala Blasters have completed the signing of former Aston Villa winger Andre Green ahead of the Indian Super League 2026-27 season, the club announced on October 3, 2026. The 28-year-old joins as a free agent after his contract with Portuguese side AVS ended in July.

Green is the first foreign signing under the club’s new Al Fursan ownership and was added as the Blasters began pre-season earlier on the same day. Head coach Ashley Westwood played a central role in identifying overseas targets and has drawn up his own shortlist of foreign players for the club to pursue. Capable of playing on either flank, Green prefers the left and can also occupy the secondary striker role Westwood deploys in his 4-4-2.

Kerala Blasters are also set to add several domestic players, with Khel Now reporting deals for Mohammed Sanan, Amrinder Singh, Sahil Tavora, Ramhlunchhunga and Mohammed Yasir, and an extension for Aiban Dohling. The club remains in talks with three more foreign players and expects to complete those signings ahead of the new season.

Green came through the Aston Villa academy, spending a decade there from 2006 to 2016 before making his Premier League debut on March 13, 2016, aged 17, when he came off the bench for Jordan Veretout in a 2-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur. He made two Premier League appearances in total and 40 appearances for Villa across all competitions, scoring twice, including 21 Championship appearances in 2018-19.

During spells away from Villa he played on loan at Portsmouth (six appearances, one goal), Preston North End (four appearances) and Charlton Athletic (13 Championship appearances, two goals in 2019-20). He then joined Sheffield Wednesday, making 11 Championship appearances in 2020-21 and two League One appearances the following season.

Green moved abroad in 2021 to sign for Slovan Bratislava, where over two seasons he made 51 league appearances and scored 11 goals while Slovan won the Slovak title in both campaigns. He scored eight goals in 11 Slovak Cup appearances and his European record for the club stands at 19 appearances and seven goals, including 11 Conference League games with four goals and three Europa League qualifying goals from three matches; he also featured three times in Champions League qualifiers.

He returned to England with Rotherham United in 2023, making nine Championship appearances in 2023-24, then had a more productive 2024-25 League One spell with three goals and four assists in 13 games. The 2025-26 season saw him make 11 league appearances for Panserraikos in Greece (nine starts, 663 minutes) before moving to AVS in Portugal in February 2026, where he added five Primeira Liga appearances and 195 minutes; across both clubs he finished the league season with 16 appearances, 858 minutes and one assist without scoring. In total, Green has 187 league appearances, 27 goals and 12 assists in his career.

A left winger born in Solihull, Green represented England at five youth levels: four appearances for the U16s, three for the U17s, four for the U18s, three for the U19s and two for the U20s. He arrives in Kerala aiming to rediscover the form he produced at Slovan Bratislava.

Kerala Blasters begin their ISL 2026-27 campaign away to Inter Kashi on October 11, with their first home match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi against Mumbai City FC on October 25.
