Kotian’s eight-for sets up Mumbai’s 10-wicket Ranji win over Haryana
Tanush Kotian took a career-best eight for 84 to set up Mumbai’s win over Haryana in their Ranji Trophy match at the Sharad Pawar Academy ground on Thursday, October 29, 2026.
Mumbai secured a third consecutive Ranji Trophy victory, with a bonus point, as the hosts continued their march towards regaining the title; Kotian finished with a match haul of 11 wickets as Haryana were dismissed for 256 just before tea.
Kotian opened the bowling from the pavilion end in the morning when Mumbai required eight wickets for victory and induced an early edge from Yashvardhan Dalal that Sarfaraz Khan held.
Himanshu Rana, who had retired hurt after being struck on the helmet the previous evening, returned to bat alongside Nishant Sindhu but soon fell to Kotian when one turned sharply into him and Saxena held a leg-slip catch.
Sindhu was dismissed at the stroke of lunch, inside-edging an audacious sweep which wicketkeeper Akash Anand caught, and although Samant Jakhar and Anuj Thakral batted for nearly two hours, the breakthrough came when Kotian, bowling over the wicket, turned one through Thakral’s defence to hit the stumps.
The collapse that followed allowed Kotian to register his career-best figures in the innings and match; Mumbai’s openers then chased the 97-run target in under 11 overs as Divyaansh Saxena (30 not out, 25b, 2x4, 2x6) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (67 not out, 39b, 7x4, 3x6) attacked Haryana’s bowlers, Raghuvanshi using the reverse-sweep against left-arm spinner Sindhu and sealing the win with a six over midwicket off Kanishk Chouhan.
