Lakshya Sen was eliminated in the first round of the Denmark Open on October 13, 2026, losing to Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien Chen 18-21, 21-13, 15-21 in a 63-minute match.

Sen arrived at the Denmark Open following a difficult 2026, having exited the Asian Games in the second round to Loh Kean Yew at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium and suffering an unexpected early exit at the BWF World Championships in August when he was beaten by Garret Tan, ranked World No. 92, 19-21, 21-19, 21-17.

The opening game at the Denmark Open was tightly contested. Sen led 8-6 early, but Chou seized the lead before the break and then produced a late six-point run after Sen moved ahead 18-15, taking the first game 21-18.

Sen responded in the second game, building a clear advantage at the interval and extending that margin after the resumption to lead 18-7. Chou reduced the deficit but could not overturn Sen’s advantage, with Sen closing out the set 21-13 to force a deciding third game.

The decider saw Chou regain control, opening a large lead and reaching 17-7. Sen narrowed the gap to 19-15, but Chou secured the final points to win the game 21-15 and eliminate Sen from the tournament.

Elsewhere on the same day, Kidambi Srikanth progressed to the round of 16 with a straight-games victory over France’s Arnaud Merkle, winning 22-20, 21-19. Srikanth is listed as World No. 31 in the report.

In the women’s singles, Tanvi Sharma advanced by defeating Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 to keep her campaign alive. The report notes that Sharma could face compatriot P.V. Sindhu in the following round, contingent on Sindhu overcoming Germany’s Yvonne Li; Sindhu is identified as World No. 11.

Sen’s exit ends his Denmark Open campaign at the opening hurdle, while Srikanth moves into the round of 16 and Sharma into the next round with a potential clash against Sindhu dependent on that match’s outcome.
