The tournament, being hosted in New Delhi, followed a strong opening day for India after the team won all their matches on Day 1. Matches on August 18 commenced at 9:00 am, with India scheduled to play six matches in total across the day. Three matches had been completed by mid-afternoon, leaving three fixtures to be played in the second half.

Among the results on August 18, the mixed doubles pair Rohan Kapoor and Ruthivka Gadde took the first game of their match but lost the next two. The partnership of Asith Surya and Amrutha Pramuthesh won the opening game before narrowly dropping the second 29-30 and then losing the decider 22-24. Reflecting on performances from the previous day, Ayush Shetty defeated World No.1 and defending world champion Shi Yu Qi in a three-game contest. PV Sindhu began her campaign with a straight-games victory over Sophia Nobel, contributing to India’s unblemished record on Day 1.
