Lamine Yamal and Harry Kane were among the standout performers during the September-October international window in the UEFA Nations League 2026-27, producing eye-catching displays for Spain and England respectively. The international break produced several notable individual performances across Europe despite a number of players withdrawing from their national teams.

The September-October international period saw some players return to club duties while others used the window to showcase form for country and club in the UEFA Nations League 2026-27. A group of participants turned the break into a platform for match-winning contributions, with names such as Viktor Gyokeres, Troy Parrott, Goncalo Ramos, Jude Bellingham and Michael Olise singled out for their impact.

Troy Parrott, 24, emerged as a driving force for Ireland after a scoreless opening Nations League match against Kosovo; he then produced strong showings against Israel and Austria and finished the period with four goals, operating as a key attacking outlet for the Republic of Ireland.

Goncalo Ramos, the AC Milan forward, took on a prominent role for Portugal in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo. Ramos was on the field for just 23 minutes during Portugal’s opening game and went on to score three goals across three consecutive matches for his country.

Viktor Gyokeres responded to a sluggish club start by finding form for Sweden, scoring in each of the first three Nations League 2026-27 matches and extending a scoring run to six consecutive games in the competition.

Jude Bellingham, 23, contributed across England’s fixtures with one goal and a total of four assists in the first four UEFA Nations League matches, continuing a positive run of form for Real Madrid into the international arena. Michael Olise, having provided seven assists during the 2026 World Cup for France, carried that creative output into the Nations League and took on greater responsibility in the French attack in the absence of Kylian Mbappe.

Harry Kane, 33, maintained his goalscoring consistency for Bayern Munich and England, recording four goals and one assist in England’s first three Nations League matches. Lamine Yamal, 19, produced an energetic streak for Spain, scoring early in games and causing problems for opponents, and both players have been named among the favourites for the Ballon d’Or 2026.

Erling Haaland of Norway is identified as the top goal-getter with 22 goals, and, according to the same assessments, Harry Kane and Lamine Yamal figure among the favourites to win the prestigious Ballon d’Or in 2026.
