Lancashire, Yorkshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire reach One-Day Cup quarter-finals as Rocky Flintoff hits first professional century

Lancashire, Yorkshire, Durham and Nottinghamshire secured places in the One-Day Cup quarter-finals as the group stage concluded on 11 August 2026, with Keaton Jennings and Rocky Flintoff both scoring centuries in Lancashire's win over Somerset at Taunton. Leicestershire and Middlesex had already qualified prior to the final round of group matches.

Lancashire posted a record List A total of 443-6, their highest ever, powered by Jennings' 156 from 127 balls and Flintoff's 123 from 76 balls — Flintoff's first professional century for Lancashire. The 443-6 eclipsed the county's previous best of 406-9 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge in 2019; Jack Blatherwick added a 32-run cameo from just 10 balls. Somerset, set a huge target, were all out for 269 with Tom Aspinwall taking 4-42 after Johnny Connell and Savin Perera were removed early; Tom Lammonby added 68 having accumulated 547 runs in the competition.

At the Oval, Nottinghamshire chased down 299 to beat Surrey as Ryan Patel and Dom Sibley put on 175 for the first wicket, Sibley making 84 and Patel bringing up a century in 91 balls. Surrey were reduced to 298-8 after a spell of 4-54 from Dillon Pennington. George Munsey's 138 from 132 balls and captain Haseeb Hameed's 51 steadied Nottinghamshire, and Kyle Verreynne's unbeaten 57 carried them over the line.

Warwickshire defeated Kent by 87 runs, the Bears reaching 263 before being bowled out largely on the back of Vansh Jani's 98; Matt Milnes took 4-52. Kent were bowled out for 176 after seamer Ethan Bamber had earlier returned figures of 4-29. At Cheltenham College, a match involving Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire produced a 308 total for the visitors following contributions of 79 from Nathan McSweeney and 75 from George Bartlett; Dominic Leech added 35 while Daaryoush Ahmed finished with 4-56. Gloucestershire’s chase featured a 99 opening stand from James Bracey and Cameron Bancroft, and Ahmed (48) plus Joseph Eckland (68 not out) steered them to their target.

Yorkshire secured second place in Group B with a seven-wicket win over Essex to book a home quarter-final at York on Friday, after bowling Essex out for 151 inside 41 overs with Dom Bess taking 3-32 and Ben Coad 3-22. Yorkshire slipped to 15-2 in reply before Will Bennison struck 60 off 59 balls as they recorded their sixth win in eight group matches and a second successive quarter-final spot. Middlesex rounded out Group B at the top, with Joe Cracknell producing a maiden white-ball hundred to ensure top spot and a home semi-final on Sunday — their first in List A cricket since 1990. James Cracknell shared a third-wicket partnership of 202 with Nathan Fernandes (92) as Middlesex posted 354-8 and beat Sussex by 92 runs at Radlett; Sussex replied with 262, helped by John Simpson (65) and Oli Carter (58).

Durham took third place in their group after a dramatic finish at New Road, where holders Worcestershire won by 77 runs having been bowled out for 291, Tom Taylor making 86. Ben McKinney scored 82 from 70 in Durham's chase but they were all out for 214 after a collapse that saw three wickets fall in eight balls and a late recovery to reach 214 from 204. At Southampton, Derbyshire totalled 317-5 with Martin Andersson scoring 125 — his fourth hundred of the summer across all formats — supported by century stands with Harry Came (62) and Brooke Guest (67). Hampshire were then dismissed for 309 with 10 overs to spare despite Andrew Neal's 110 off 63 balls, his maiden professional century at the age of 26 which included 10 sixes.
