Late call-up Lone Nasir shines for J&K in Irani Cup in Srinagar
Lone Nasir produced an all-round contribution for Jammu & Kashmir in the Irani Cup match against Rest of India in Srinagar on October 2, 2026. He was a late call-up and initially wore a shirt with Vivrant Sharma’s name taped to the back.
In three previous First Class appearances for Jammu & Kashmir, Lone Nasir had not picked up a wicket and had scored a total of 115 runs, his highest being 44. The selection for the Irani Cup fixture came as a surprise to many.
“My selection was at the last minute. It was unexpected. I wasn’t sure I would be picked even though I had done well in the trial games,” Nasir said at the close of day two.
“Such situations are not new to me. I have taken the J&K under-23 team out of such situations many times. The belief was there.”
He snared three wickets on the opening day and then scored 64 off 58 balls. When he came in to bat at No. 10, the host was 166 for eight, and his 64-run stand with skipper Paras Dogra turned things around.
Nasir’s all-round show has put J&K in a strong position. He made those comments at the close of day two.
