Lee Erwin and Amrinder Singh headline ISL 2026-27 Team of the Week after Matchweek 4

Lee Erwin and Amrinder Singh headlined the Team of the Week following Matchweek 4 of the 2026-27 Indian Super League, with selections drawn from five fixtures played during the fourth game week of the season.
The thirteenth edition of the ISL has completed almost 20 days of action and Matchweek 4 featured five games instead of the usual six. NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC opened the week with a 1-1 draw, the Southern Derby at the Marina Arena also finished level, Mohun Bagan came from behind to beat Punjab FC 2-1, Mumbai City FC surrendered a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to SC Delhi, and FC Goa defeated Inter Kashi 2-1 with goals from Chiki and Franchu. East Bengal, Churchill Brothers SC and Odisha FC did not play this game week.
Amrinder Singh earned inclusion after a performance that the piece described as part of a redemption arc following a benching at Odisha FC late in 2025-26; for Kerala Blasters he made four crucial saves from inside the box, including a goal-line stop to deny Emmanuel from a set-piece and a save to deny Irfan’s chip in a one-on-one, helping secure a clean sheet and his second consecutive Man of the Match award.
Saheef and Naocha Singh were the defensive/full-back selections after standout outings. Saheef won six duels, completed most of his tackles, made four clearances, recorded two interceptions and two recoveries while limiting the threat from Sreekuttan. Naocha, operating in a left-center-back role in possession and as a left-back out of possession, was not dribbled past, won all his tackles, claimed five of six ground duels and produced two crucial blocks around the edge of the box, with additional interceptions and clearances.
Alberto Rodriguez and Ricky Meetei were named for their defensive contributions for Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru respectively, while Samir Zeljkovic featured in midfield. Rodriguez completed 13 successful defensive actions—including eight clearances, three blocks and two recoveries—won all his tackles and five duels as Mohun Bagan recorded their third consecutive win and second straight clean sheet. Ricky made 10 recoveries, three interceptions and two clearances against NorthEast United, was never dribbled past, completed seven of eight long balls and posted 92% passing accuracy in the opposition half. Zeljkovic registered two shots on target, created three key chances, completed a dribble, won all his tackles, made 14 recoveries and won 10 ground duels plus an aerial duel.
Two Mumbai City performers, Zothanpuia (Puipuia) and Noufal, were included for their roles in the 2-3 defeat by SC Delhi. Zothanpuia forced an early save within three minutes and scored just before the first-half drinks break to make it 2-0; he also made five recoveries, one clearance and won four duels. Noufal, starting on the left, created the opening goal after capitalizing on Gogou’s error to set up Ajsal, then delivered the cross for Puipuia’s second; he created five chances, two of them big chances, and completed six progressive carries down the left flank.
In attack, Franchu, Jithin MS and Lee Erwin were selected for their decisive contributions. Franchu opened the scoring for FC Goa with a composed finish from the edge of the box, created five chances, made eight progressive carries in the opposition half and recorded four recoveries. Jithin MS produced a standout moment for NorthEast United with a run and finish that left four defenders and the goalkeeper static, while also combining with Ethyan. Lee Erwin scored and assisted in Mohun Bagan’s 2-1 win over Punjab FC; his goal came from Thapa’s pass when he fired a low left-footed shot across the face of goal, and he registered an assist when Drazic scored from Erwin’s throw-in, with Arshdeep denying him further opportunities through several saves.
Mohun Bagan SG top the ISL table on nine points from four matches, and Raphael Messi Bouli and Sebastian Gutierrez share the golden boot lead with three goals each.
