Leicester defeated Bristol 22-16 away in the Premiership on 30 October 2026, taking the full five points and moving to the top of the table before the remainder of the weekend's fixtures.

Both teams had entered the match evenly matched, each holding three wins apiece ahead of the autumn international break.

Bristol opened the scoring when Louis Rees-Zammit side-stepped clear and dived under the posts for what the report described as a world-class try, his fifth Premiership try of the season.

Leicester responded after winning turnover ball and working the ball wide, with Billy Searle’s kick finding Freddie Steward in the corner for a score on his 100th Premiership start.

There were further near-misses in the first half as Fitz Harding was held up over the line and Ollie Chessum’s effort was disallowed for a knock-on; Rees-Zammit then nearly doubled his tally only for Tom Whiteley to deny him.

Momentum swung after the half-hour mark when Bristol were reduced to 13 men following two high tackles that saw Matias Moroni and Tom Jordan sent to the sin bin (Moroni 31, Jordan 34), and Adam Radwan took advantage by sprinting on to a kick to touch down for Leicester.

Ollie Hassell-Collins, who had spilled a chance before half-time, collected Searle’s crossfield kick early in the second half to extend Leicester’s lead to 17-7; James Williams kicked three penalties for Bristol, the second bringing them within four points with 20 minutes remaining, before Jamie Blamire finished at the back of a driving maul to secure the visitors’ bonus-point try. Billy Searle missed three conversions, and Williams’ third penalty with seven minutes left set up a nervy final phase, but Leicester held on and Bristol took a single losing bonus point.

Bristol named Jordan; Rees-Zammit, Moroni, Williams, Ibitoye; MacGinty, Randall; Genge, Oghre, Kloska; Rubiolo, Batley, Luatua, Harding (c), Ivanishvili, with replacements Gwilliam, Woolmore, Chawatama, Caulfield, Owen, Marmion, Bates, Grondona. Leicester’s lineup was Steward; Radwan, Kata, Bailey, Hassell-Collins; Searle, Whiteley; Van der Flier; Blamire, Heyes; Henderson, Chessum (c), Wainwright, Carnduff, Cracknell, with replacements Moli, Vunipola, Hurd, Stooke, Moro, Van Poortvliet, Wand, Hamer-Webb.

Leicester’s victory moves them above Gloucester at the top of the Premiership as the first block of league fixtures concludes, and Bristol — the Cherry and Whites — are scheduled to play Northampton on Saturday at 17:30 GMT.
