Los Angeles 2028 cricket qualifiers scheduled for January–February 2028

Cricinfo has reported that the qualifying tournaments for cricket at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics are scheduled for January–February 2028, a window that appears on a global events list the ICC circulated to member boards after meetings in Dubai in October.
Cricket will return to the Olympic programme in 2028 after more than a century away from the Games. Australia, India, South Africa and Great Britain have already secured places in the women's Olympic tournament as the highest-ranked teams from their respective continents based on their performance at the T20 World Cup earlier this year. In the men's competition, qualification will be determined by the top four teams as on December 31 this year from Africa, Asia, Europe and Oceania.
The United States, as hosts, were declared eligible to enter both the men's and women's events provided they finish inside the top 15 of the ICC rankings during the qualification period from June 30, 2026 to December 31, 2026. "If the host (USA) does not meet the ranking criteria by 31 Dec 2026, that spot is reallocated based on the ICC Women's Champions Trophy 2027 standings (cut-off 1 March 2027)," Cricinfo quoted the ICC communication to member countries in October.
Cricinfo also reported wider scheduling details from the ICC event list, saying: "Overall, there are 12 men's, seven women's and five Under-19 events (including qualifiers) currently scheduled between the 2027 and the 2031 ODI World Cups." The report added that the 2029 World Test Championship final will take place in England from June 8 to 12.
Each of the Olympic qualifying tournaments will feature eight nations, with the specific participants to be determined by the ICC.
The ICC will finalise the eight-team fields for the January–February 2028 qualifying events on the basis of international rankings.
