Lottie Fry and Glamourdale complete double-double to retain both world dressage titles in Aachen

Great Britain’s Lottie Fry retained both individual titles at the FEI World Championships in Aachen, Germany, on Friday, completing a rare ‘double-double’ with her mount Glamourdale.

Fry, 30, had earlier claimed the Grand Prix Special title in Aachen while riding Glamourdale, becoming the first British rider to defend a World Championship crown. Her Special win set up the chance to become the first competitor in 60 years of the competition to defend both individual dressage titles by following up in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

In the Freestyle Fry and Glamourdale posted a final score of 91.907%, a mark described as just shy of their personal best; that score moved them into the lead and proved sufficient to secure another gold in Aachen. The result meant Fry successfully defended the titles she won in Herning, Denmark, four years ago.

"It's been an amazing week," said Fry. "Glammy's performed beyond all expectations. "He was completely relaxed, super-happy, and we both enjoyed every second. "This was the best test of our lives - it was just the most amazing feeling in the world. I hope we continue to improve but, for now, this is incredible."

Becky Moody and Jagerbomb finished fifth overall, while Carl Hester and Fame took seventh, leaving Great Britain as the only nation with three riders inside the top seven.

The World Championships serve as the first qualifier for the 2028 Olympics, and Great Britain’s dressage team secured a place at LA28 on Wednesday.

GB’s eventing team is in first place heading into the final showjumping phase on Sunday.
