Lovlina Borgohain won the women's 75kg boxing gold at the Asian Games in Japan on her 29th birthday.
She defeated China's Ziyi Bao in the final and had previously considered quitting boxing after a disappointing performance at the Paris Olympics.
Her victory ended a 12-year wait for a female boxing champion from India.
