Lucas Digne completes transfer from Aston Villa to Paris St-Germain

Lucas Digne completed a transfer from Aston Villa to Paris St-Germain on 9 August 2026, signing a three-year deal at the Parc des Princes. The 33-year-old left back has joined the European champions.

Digne began his career with PSG, spending three years at the club early on. He made 30 appearances during that first spell before leaving for Barcelona in 2016. He moved to Aston Villa from Everton in 2022 and has earned 64 senior caps for the France national team.

Paris St-Germain activated a £8.5m release clause in Digne's Villa contract to secure the move, bringing him back after eight years in England.

"I am very honoured to be returning to Paris St-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than ten years ago," said Digne. "I am particularly impressed by how the club has developed over the years."

Digne joins a PSG side that have won the Champions League twice in succession, most recently after beating Arsenal on penalties in the 2026 final.

He was part of the Aston Villa team that won the Europa League last season, the club's first piece of silverware since 1996.

Digne is set to provide competition for first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes. He is the third senior departure from Villa Park this season, following the exits of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea and Youri Tielemans to Manchester United.
