Lucas Gourna-Douath involved in car crash near Hull City training ground

Lucas Gourna-Douath, a Hull City midfielder, was involved in a car crash on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, East Yorkshire, on 1 October 2026, near the club's training ground. The BBC reports a black Mercedes, which it understands belongs to Gourna-Douath, overturned in the incident.
Hull City issued a statement saying the club was "aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the training ground and can confirm that no one was harmed in the incident". The crash is the second in the space of three weeks involving a Hull City player on that stretch of road.
Humberside Police said emergency services were called at 08:30 GMT. Pictures of the scene show the car on its side, and one resident told the BBC that the vehicle had also struck and damaged her car.
Paul Nickerson, who lives on the road from where the incident took place, said: "I arrived just after it turned over because I heard the noise. "If it had happened a minute before, my wife was walking down the road with our kids taking them to school. So, it's really worrying."
Tracy Evans, who has lived on the road for 19 years, said she has been asking for the speed limit to be reduced for about 10 years. She added: "At that time, children are coming, going to school, the parents are coming back." She said measures needed to be put in place "to avoid something happening in the future".
In September, Gourna-Douath's team-mate Sorba Thomas was involved in a crash on the same road, a separate incident residents cited when calling for improved safety measures.
