On 4 October 2026 in Leicester, World number two Luke Humphries defeated Gerwyn Price 6-4 to win the World Grand Prix. The victory ended a 16-month wait for a PDC major trophy for Humphries.

Humphries, 31, had been at the top of the sport two years earlier but saw his dominance challenged by Luke Littler. He had not won a major since lifting the Premier League in May 2025 and had not added a ranking title since claiming the Masters in February last year. Entering the tournament as the second seed, he was contesting a record-breaking fourth successive World Grand Prix final. The Leicester final represented his latest attempt to arrest a run without major silverware.

Price established an early advantage by taking the first three sets of the final. Humphries responded by winning four sets on the spin to wrest control of the match. Price then levelled before Humphries broke in the deciding leg of set five and followed that by winning three straight legs to close out the contest.

The win is Humphries' second World Grand Prix title, adding to his 2023 success. That 2023 victory was cited in relation to his subsequent rise to world number one.

Defeat extends Gerwyn Price's wait for a major PDC title to four years. Price has now lost five successive major finals, including three this year.

The victory ensures he retains his number two ranking from the Netherlands' Gian van Veen and earned Humphries £150,000 in prize money.
