Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi and Shrivalli Bhamidipaty defeated third seeds Aneta Kladivova and Aneta Laboutkova 6-3, 6-2 to reach the doubles quarter-finals at the Chennai Open 2026 on Thursday.

The Chennai Open is a WTA 250 event played on hard courts with a total prize purse of US$283,347 and is scheduled to conclude on November 8. Maaya, who earlier this week became the first Indian to reach the singles quarter-finals at this tournament, will face American Robin Montgomery in the last eight on Friday and will partner Shrivalli in the doubles quarter-finals against the Dutch-Hungarian pairing of Isabelle Haverlag and Panna Udvardy.

India’s top-ranked player Vaishnavi Adkar exited the singles draw after a second-round defeat to seventh seed Anastasia Zakharova of Russia, losing 6-3, 6-0 in an 82-minute match at the SDAT Tennis Stadium. Adkar had produced a comeback in the opening round to beat Britain’s Jodie Burrage before her run ended against Zakharova.

Zakharova used a powerful backhand and consistent shot-making to dictate rallies and keep Adkar under pressure, forcing the Indian around the court. Adkar saved two break points in the third game before Zakharova secured the decisive break; trailing 2-5, Adkar called for a medical timeout for treatment to her left thigh, returned with the thigh strapped and briefly broke back, but Zakharova broke again to close the first set 6-3 and then carried that control into a 6-0 second set.

After the match Zakharova said, “I have really enjoyed playing on Centre Court.” The Russian reached the Chennai Open quarter-finals for the second consecutive time.

Third seed Magda Linette of Poland advanced to the quarter-finals with a 7-6(5), 6-0 victory over Japan’s Moyuka Uchijima, winning six straight games in the second set after a tight tie-break in the opener. Tenth seed Lucrezia Stefanini of Italy beat Switzerland’s Simona Waltert 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 32 minutes and is set to meet Zakharova in the last eight.

Maaya and Shrivalli’s doubles win secures their place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Isabelle Haverlag and Panna Udvardy, while Maaya’s singles quarter-final against Robin Montgomery is scheduled for Friday; Zakharova’s quarter-final opponent will be Lucrezia Stefanini.
