Maharashtra defeated Bengal by 10 wickets in the Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Thursday, November 5, 2026, recording the biggest win of their season.

Maharashtra’s win was built on a collective effort featuring four-wicket hauls from Pradeep Dhade and Hitesh Walunj and unbeaten half-centuries from Sachin Dhas and captain Prithvi Shaw; Bengal’s 186 in the second innings had set a target of 112, which Maharashtra chased down quickly and secured with a bonus point after bad light had curtailed play over three days.

The Maharashtra opening pair of Shaw and Dhas dominated Bengal’s bowling in the chase. Sachin Dhas finished 61 not out off 68 balls with 10 fours and reached his fifty in 43 balls, while Prithvi Shaw made 53 not out off 50 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, reaching his half-century in 47 balls.

Bengal had resumed the fourth day on 76 for 4 but lost two more wickets inside the first half hour of play. Seamer Dadhe trapped Suraj Jaiswal and Shahbaz Ahmed leg before wicket, and the hosts were unable to extend the innings beyond 186.

Abishek Porel and Sumanta Gupta provided resistance earlier in the day, compiling a 64-run partnership to avert a larger collapse; Porel made 65 off 84 balls with 5 fours and a six after starting from 23, and Sumanta Gupta scored 59 off 93 balls with 5 fours having been dropped on 31.

The Porel-Gupta stand ended when left-arm spinner Hitesh Walunj’s delivery jumped and struck Porel’s gloves en route to the slip. Maharashtra sustained pressure thereafter, with Dadhe operating in a good channel and extracting subtle movement and Walunj maintaining a tight line as Bengal ran out of time.
