Kane Lee, 28, was jailed after admitting he burgled the home of former world snooker champion Kyren Wilson in Barton Seagrave, near Kettering, during a break-in on 22 June, a court heard this week. The sentencing followed legal proceedings at Northampton Crown Court.

Wilson said "£2,000 in cash that had been set aside as a donation to the BeMoreFab Children's Cancer Charity" had been stolen. Northamptonshire Police said high-value jewellery, luxury watches, designer handbags and cash destined for a children's cancer charity were taken from his house near Kettering on 22 June. Wilson, who won the world title in Sheffield in 2024, had hosted an exhibition event in Corby earlier this month to raise money for the same charity.

Police said Lee acquired tools and clothing from B&Q and Tesco for the burglary, before driving from Luton to Kettering in a vehicle fitted with cloned number plates. He arrived after 11:00 BST and smashed the upstairs window of the four-bedroom detached house in Barton Seagrave to gain access to the property, which was unoccupied at the time. He left in the same vehicle.

Kane Lee, of Albert Road, Luton, had initially denied the charge of burglary but changed his plea to guilty at a hearing at Northampton Crown Court. Det Insp Alan Rooney said: "People often underestimate how violating it can feel to know that someone has been inside your home with the sole intent of stealing your property and we are pleased that the sentence reflects how much a crime such as this can affect someone."

He was jailed for four years and ordered to pay a surcharge of £228 at a sentencing hearing earlier this week. The sentence was imposed at Northampton Crown Court.
