Manchester City loan Omar Marmoush to Tottenham with initial £50m buy obligation as Nico González moves to Newcastle for £52m

Manchester City have agreed on 26 August 2026 to loan Omar Marmoush to Tottenham for the season, with an initial obligation to buy of £50m, and to sell Nico González to Newcastle for £52m.

Marmoush is due to undergo a medical at Spurs before the move is completed, with Tottenham agreeing to up to £10m in add-ons, half of which is guaranteed. The 27-year-old is scheduled to sign a four-year contract next summer with a one-year option. City will not pay a sell-on fee to Eintracht Frankfurt in connection with the Marmoush deal following his January 2025 arrival from the German club. Marmoush’s switch follows the transfer of Sávio from City to Spurs, completed on Tuesday for £75m plus £10m.

González’s departure makes him the fourth frontline central midfielder to leave City this summer after Rodri, Bernardo Silva and Tijjani Reijnders. The club’s midfield turnover follows multiple high-profile exits across the squad. The report places González’s fee to Newcastle at £52m.

Manchester City’s incoming business this window has so far included the signing of Elliott Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116m. The club have also agreed a €100m (£85.7m) deal for Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and a £34m fee for Palmeiras’s Allan Elias. The club signed Allan Elias as a replacement for Sávio in the wide forward position.

City remain linked with further midfield recruitment, with the club expected to formalise interest in Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández by submitting a bid. Chelsea value Fernández at £120m, according to the same report.
