Manchester United will be required to modify their third kit for UEFA Champions League fixtures this campaign, with UEFA rules obliging the club to display the ‘Snapdragon’ wordmark on shirts used in the competition. The change affects the cream “three-pronged” third shirt that the club intends to deploy domestically this season.

The third kit features a retro-looking crest and a concentrated Snapdragon logo, a design element that has drawn praise from supporters. Snapdragon has been Manchester United’s main sponsor since the start of the 2024–2025 season, and Adidas agreed a ten-year contract with the club in 2023 worth £900 million.

“All registered match uniforms (home, away, and third) must have the same primary front-of-shirt sponsor logo, according to stringent UEFA Equipment Regulations.” As a result, the club must carry the ‘Snapdragon’ wordmark on the third shirt for Champions League matches and keep that kit identical for both home and away continental fixtures.

With United finishing third in the Premier League in 2025-26, the club’s ownership has moved to secure Michael Carrick’s future; Sir Jim Ratcliffe has no other option but to offer Michael Carrick, the current coach and former midfielder – one of the most valued players in English top-flight history – a permanent deal. The source adds that, now that the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era appears to be on a steady upward trend, the club will be keen to continue the good times.

The club will use the third shirt in domestic competitions this season, the reporting indicates. The domestic use of the kit means the cream third shirt will appear in Premier League and other domestic fixtures as registered by the club.

On Saturday, Michael Carrick’s team will travel to face recently promoted Hull City to begin their Premier League campaign.
