Manish Narwal takes silver in men’s 10m air pistol SH1 at Asian Para Games
Manish Narwal won the silver medal in the men’s 10m air pistol SH1 event at the Asian Para Games in Nagoya on Tuesday and secured a quota place for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics.
An Arjuna awardee from Ballabhgarh in Faridabad district, Narwal’s podium finish continued Indian shooters’ medal run at the Games. He became the third Indian para shooter to clinch an LA 2028 quota, following Mona Agarwal and Avani Lekhara, who took gold and silver respectively in the women’s 10m air rifle SH1 on Monday, the opening day of the shooting competition.
Narwal shot 233.7 in the eight-man final to finish second. South Korea’s Jo Jeongdu won gold with a Games-record 241.3, while China’s Yang Chao claimed bronze with 213.6.
The other Indian to reach the final, Rudransh Khandelwal, placed seventh with a score of 127.3. He was the second Indian competitor among the eight finalists.
Narwal had previously won silver in the same event at the 2024 Paris Paralympics. He had also taken bronze at the 2023 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou and added another medal to that collection in Nagoya.
Narwal’s silver secures India another entry for shooting at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympics, making him the third Indian para shooter to obtain a quota place for those Games.
