Mansa Musa pleases in Pune morning gallops
Mansa Musa pleased when the horses were exercised in Pune on Sunday, Aug. 16 during the morning gallops. In a 1400m work Mansa Musa (T.S. Jodha) recorded 1-36 with intermediate splits 1200/1-21, 1000/1-6, 800/52, 600/39 after starting four lengths behind and finishing three lengths ahead.
The session at the Pune race track featured timed works over 800m, 1000m, 1200m and 1400m. Trainers and riders logged sectional times and noted which horses moved freely, were urged or finished with margins. Jockeys cited in the exercises included Shahrukh, A. Gaikwad, S.J. Sunil, S.G. Prasad and T.S. Jodha among others.
At 800m Lightning Spear (Shahrukh) posted 54, 600/38 and moved freely while Ministry Of Time (A. Gaikwad) recorded 53, 600/39 and worked freely. Winter Sun (Gore) and Armenian (S.J. Sunil) both did 54, 600/40 with the former ending three lengths in front. Whisper (S.J. Sunil) ran 51, 600/38 and moved well; Shirsa (S.G. Prasad) posted 56, 600/41 and was described as easy. Remy Red (Aditya) and Rogue (Zeeshan) each ran 52, 600/39 and finished level; Styx (T.S. Jodha) and Ricochet (P. Vinod) both did 52, 600/39 with Styx finishing six lengths ahead. Chicago Chimes (Bhawani) covered 800m in 57, 600/43 and was easy; Sukoon (Kaviraj) and Rock Armour (N.B. Kuldeep) ran 51, 600/37, were pushed and Sukoon finished three lengths ahead.
Over 1000m Wings Of Fury (Ramswarup) clocked 1-9 with splits 800/53 and 600/40 and moved well. Dreamer (Parmar) registered 1-11, 600/41 and was easy. Kimiko (Bhawani) did 1-7 with 800/52, 600/40 and was slightly urged. Manwar (Vivek) recorded 1-11, 600/42 and was described as easy.
In the 1200m works Fire Away (Kaviraj) and Funny Bunny (N.B. Kuldeep) ran 1-22 with 1000/1-7, 800/52, 600/40 and moved level freely. Liban (rb) posted 1-25, 600/42 and worked freely. Echo (Umesh) and Desert Diamond (Merchant) also recorded 1-22, 1000/1-7, 800/52, 600/39 and moved neck and neck freely.
At 1400m Diego Garcia (Ajinkya) covered the trip in 1-39 with splits 1200/1-24, 1000/1-9, 600/41 and moved well. Dream Alliance (Yash) recorded 1-39, 1000/1-9, 600/41 and worked freely. Mansa Musa (T.S. Jodha) and Floyd (P. Vinod) posted 1-36, 1200/1-21, 1000/1-6, 800/52, 600/39, with Mansa Musa starting four lengths behind and easily finishing three lengths ahead.
Mock races noted on August 15 at the race track included a 1200m heat where Eloquent (Aditya), Esconido (Nazil), Hiranmayee (Merchant) and Rise All Stars (S.G. Prasad) ran 1-13, 600/35 with margins Short Head and Dist.; Rise All Stars planted into the stalls. A 1400m mock race saw Avener (Sandesh), Asterion (Bhawani), Sir Churchill (Akshay K) and Shubhankar (Bharat) post 1-28, 600/37 with margins 2-1/4, Neck and 3/4. Avener, who was racing far behind till the bend, easily covered the leeway and won the race.
