Manvir Singh’s late finish hands Mohun Bagan Super Giant win over Chennaiyin

Manvir Singh's late strike gave Mohun Bagan Super Giant victory over Chennaiyin FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in an Indian Super League match on Monday. The fixture formed part of the ISL schedule.
Mohun Bagan began the match on the front foot, with Manvir and Scottish forward Lee Erwin driving the early attacks. The hosts lost momentum and Chennaiyin grew into the game, mounting repeated forays into the final third. Playmaker Madih Talal led the visitors' build-up, but Brison Fernandes, Irfan Yadwad and Namgyal Bhutia failed to convert the chances that fell before half-time. Mohun Bagan's attacking rhythm was disrupted by the absence of Jamie Maclaren, Miguel Figuera and Apuia through injury, and coach Panagiotis Dilmperis' midfield reshuffle — including an effort to find the right position for Lallianzuala Chhangte — further unsettled the side.
A switch back to a more familiar approach in the final quarter helped the hosts regain cohesion. Substitute Liston Colaco delivered a precise cross from the left. Manvir redirected that delivery into the net to decide the match.
Chennaiyin continued to pose a threat after the interval, bolstered by Brazilian forward Ramon Tanque. Tanque had a promising opportunity in the 61st minute after being set up by Talal, but goalkeeper Vishal Kaith produced a crucial save. Kaith was involved again when Nikola Stojanovic's swerving left-footed effort struck the crossbar following a timely touch from the goalkeeper in the 77th minute. Those missed chances left Chennaiyin unable to find an equaliser.
The result: Mohun Bagan SG 1 (Manvir Singh 85) bt Chennaiyin FC 0. Published - October 26, 2026 11:16 pm IST - KOLKATA.
