Marc Domenech: Mallorca forward joins Atletico Madrid on loan with buy option

Atletico Madrid reached an agreement on 25 August 2026 to sign 19-year-old Marc Domenech from RCD Mallorca, bringing the forward to Madrid on a loan deal that includes an option to buy; he underwent a medical before being unveiled as an Atleti player and will begin with Atletico B. The move was reported earlier by Fabrizio Romano.
Born in Llucmajor, Domenech progressed through RCD Mallorca’s youth academy and featured for affiliate CD San Francisco before becoming a regular in Mallorca B. Mallorca reportedly considered him a major prospect, rejecting an offer from FC Barcelona, and he is primarily a striker who can also operate on the wings.
Domenech scored nine goals in 26 appearances for Mallorca B and made his LaLiga debut in 2024 against Sevilla, finishing that debut season with 10 top-flight appearances. He added seven further appearances for Mallorca in the 2025-26 season without scoring and was loaned to AD Ceuta FC in January, where he netted one goal in eight outings.
Atletico formalised the loan with an option to buy, with Fabrizio Romano reporting a verbal club-to-club agreement and noting that final formal steps and medical tests in Madrid were part of the process. Domenech underwent a medical before being presented as an Atletico player and has been placed with the club’s B side in the initial days of his spell.
Atletico have been active in the summer transfer window and have already added four first-team signings: Alejandro Grimaldo from Bayer Leverkusen for €22 million, Morten Hjulmand from Sporting CP for €40 million, Kang-In Lee from Paris Saint-Germain for €40 million, and Cristian Romero from Tottenham Hotspur for €40 million. Domenech would be the fifth summer signing for Los Rojiblancos but is viewed within the club as a prospect for the future rather than an immediate first-team contributor.
Domenech has not yet made any appearances for Spain’s youth sides, a situation the article notes could change if he impresses during his loan at Atletico. He joins Atletico on a loan with an option to buy and will initially be part of Atletico B while the club assesses whether to integrate him into the senior squad.
