Marcus Rashford replies after Jamie Carragher tells Gary Neville to stop mentioning him

Marcus Rashford responded on X after a preview clip for the Stick to Football podcast, posted on Overlap’s X account on August 20, 2026, showed Jamie Carragher visibly unhappy when co-host Gary Neville raised the forward’s name.
The clip captured Neville raising his hands and asking, “Oh, Marcus Rashford. What do we think?” and prompted Carragher to say: “Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford? Stop it. Oh my God. It’s like the Trent (Alexander-Arnold) and Rashford. Like a little part of the podcast. The Trent part or the Rashford part.” Rashford reacted to the footage with a post on X that included the words: "Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day 😭 https://t.co/GTqrKhbZEE" and his quoted line: “It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day.”
Rashford is back at Manchester United after spending last season on loan at Barcelona, where he played 49 games, scored 14 goals and provided 14 assists while helping the club win LaLiga.
Barcelona had an option to sign Rashford permanently for £26 million but opted to sign Anthony Gordon instead.
His last official outing for United came in December 2024 under previous manager Ruben Amorim.
Rashford is expected to be part of Michael Carrick’s team for Saturday’s Premier League start against Hull.
